What do you enjoy most about working as part of the Leaders  United program on the OP campaign?  

The community team effort working toward the same goal in a positive manner.

 How long have you been involved in or volunteered with the campaign?  

A total of about 11 years; continually for the past seven.

What inspires you to give through the campaign?  

The ease of donation to the organizations of my choice.   I realize the impact this contribution process makes to the nonprofit organizations – this allows them to budget total contributions for an entire year.

What nonprofits do you donate time or funds to, and why?  

Through the campaign, I continually donate to Meals on Wheels and The Petal Connection for the love and support each provides to the elderly and hospice communities, respectively.  Also, I typically add at least one Veteran related organization for the good they give back to those who have selflessly given of themselves. 

What has been your favorite part of this experience so far? 

The joy and positivity this brings to myself, colleagues, State employees, nonprofit organizations, and recipients.  

What are you looking forward to gain as part of Leaders United? 

Additional leadership skills to apply in life and career.

What skills or knowledge have you gained while a part of this program and how do you think it will apply to your professional or personal life?   

Continued flexibility, empathy, and understanding, networking.  These skills apply every day, personally and professionally, and make me a better person, overall.

What advice can you give to your fellow state employees who want to get involved? 

Do it! Do not hesitate or worry about whether or not you have ever been involved in the campaign or with a nonprofit.  In the end, you will be grateful for choosing this incredible opportunity.
