Meet Our Promise’s Honorary Chair, Secretary Brian Kelly!
Our Promise (formerly CSECC) welcomes California State Transportation Agency Secretary Brian Kelly to our team! Below is some information about why Our Promise is important to Secretary Kelly.
Q: Why do you feel Our Promise (formerly CSECC) is
important for state employees?
A: Our Promise (formerly CSECC) gives every state employee an
opportunity to support a charity of their choice through a tax
deductible donation. With over 200,000 state employees working a
wide range of jobs, it may be difficult for every state employee
to volunteer at their favorite charity. So Our Promise (formerly
CSECC) becomes an important tool for capturing those state
employees that want to support a charity but may not have the
extra time to do so.
Q: How would you like to see state employees to participate in
Our Promise (formerly CSECC) this year?
A: In any way they can! Participating in Our Promise
(formerly CSECC) can come in a number of ways, and it’s easy too.
The most obvious, of course, is by simply filling out the
contribution form. Making a small contribution to a favorite
charity can go a long way, and has a positive effect on our
communities and state. Equally important, I encourage all state
employees to participate in at least one Our Promise (formerly
CSECC) event this year. Attending an Our Promise (formerly CSECC)
event is a great way for state employees to learn more about
local nonprofits working in their community and to show their
support to Our Promise (formerly CSECC).
Q: What does charitable giving mean to you?
A: At some point in life, we could all use a little help.
And that is exactly what charities do—they provide help. So
charitable giving is a meaningful opportunity to assist those who
need help. That opportunity couldn’t be more important today. As
our economy improves, it’s important that the rising tide lifts
all boats.
